Beginner 1 — Reading Hangul. The consonants and vowels, how they pack into syllable blocks, the two pronunciation rules that explain why spoken Korean does not sound like the spelling, then your first twelve words and the numbers.

Beginner 2 — Survival Korean. Saying what something is and what there is, the particles, both sets of numbers and the counters, ordering and paying, the words on every Korean menu, and two full restaurant conversations.

Beginner 3 — Verbs and the Present. The present tense, how the same form asks and answers, the location particles, telling the time, the days and getting around, the irregular verbs, and a conversation at the pharmacy.

Beginner 4 — Past, Future and Joining Up. The past and future tenses, the difference between the two ways of saying no, joining sentences together, making a plan, and buying something.

Eight lessons, then a test with a full answer key. About thirty minutes to read each one, and another twenty on the exercises.

The audio

Every word and sentence in the courses is read aloud on a page on this site — the QR code on each cover opens it. Audio is not embedded in the PDFs because iOS Files, Apple Books and most Android readers silently ignore it.
