MyKoreanTrip is a one-person site. This page describes what it actually collects and who it goes to — no more, and nothing written to sound reassuring that isn’t true.

What is collected

If you just read the site

A random visitor ID is stored in a first-party cookie (mkt_vid), along with the pages you visit and when. It lets us count visitors and popular pages. It is not tied to your name, email or IP address, it isn’t shared, and there is no Google Analytics, Meta pixel or other third-party tracker anywhere on the site.

If you create an account

Your email address, and your name and profile picture if you sign in with Google. Used to sign you in and to give you access to anything you’ve bought. Sessions are kept in a cookie.

If you join the mailing list

Your email address and which part of the site you signed up from. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can ask to be removed at any time.

If you buy something

Payment is handled entirely by PayPal. We receive a record of the purchase so we can give you the download — we never see or store your card details. Purchased PDFs are served from private storage, to your account only.

If you ask Mr. Kim a question

Your question is sent to the services listed below to produce an answer. Please don’t type anything sensitive into it — treat it like a public search box.

Who your data is shared with

Only the services needed to run the site. Each receives the minimum to do its job:

  • Vercel — hosting, and server logs
  • Neon — the database (EU, London region)
  • PayPal — payments
  • Google — optional sign-in
  • Anthropic and Voyage AI — writing and searching answers for Mr. Kim
  • Tavily — a general web search, used only when a question isn’t covered by our own guides
  • Kakao, OpenStreetMap and OSRM — places, maps and directions

Your data is never sold, and never shared for anyone else’s advertising.

Affiliate links

Some booking links earn a commission — see our terms for the detail. Clicking one takes you to the partner’s site, where their privacy policy applies. They may set their own cookies to attribute the booking. We don’t receive your booking details, only whether a booking happened.

How long it’s kept

Analytics for up to two years. Account, order and download records for as long as your account exists, and afterwards only where needed for tax or accounting. Mailing list entries until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask for it corrected, or ask for it deleted — including your whole account. Email hello@mykoreantrip.com and it’ll be handled within 30 days. If you’re in the UK or EU you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.

Cookies

Only two kinds: the analytics ID described above, and a sign-in session cookie if you have an account. No advertising cookies. You can clear them in your browser at any time; signing out clears the session one.

Children

This site isn’t aimed at children under 13, and accounts aren’t knowingly created for them.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top changes with it.
